There is two interphalangeal joints of the finger: proximal and distal. The injury occurs usually in the proximal interphalangeal joint by the ligaments twisting. Finger dislocation: It is based on temporary or permanent an abnormal separation in the joint. It may be connected with soft tissue damage (joint capsule, ligaments). It can be dislocated when torqued or hyperextended finger is forced. This kind of external force comes from another player or ball. The injury commonly occurs in sports such basketball or baseball. Finger fracture: it is the result of the above injures, but the external force was so huge and caused fracture of the phalanx of the finger. The healing period is much longer.
